For designing and implementing promotional campaigns, we need to understand the communication process. The word communication comes from the Latin word communis, meaning common. For an effective marketing promotion and hence communication is very important. It is not enough to produce the product and make it available in the market. It is equally important to let the consumers know about the existence and other details about the product. Marketing communications is presentation of the messages to the target market through multiple cues and media so that the customers respond to it favourably.
